Lady in Collage

Hello and welcome back ! It's Sue here today sharing an Inspirational post in connection with the current challenge, Off to Collage. I've been fortunate to be able to play with the latest Fresco Finish Acrylic paints for Seth Apter by PaperArtsy, the blues and greens in this new set are just gorgeous, so this is where the thought process started.

It's been ages since I've used my Gelli Plate, pulling a print using fabric is so much fun to do so I spent an enjoyable 2 hours doing just that. Once I'd collected a few prints, some on Smoothy card, I started to piece together my collage.

When I do a large project I usually draw out a rough design, not that it ends up looking like that but it gives me a starting point until the creative process takes over.

I've used a various seletion of stencils, the one you can see above is by TCW and works so well on the Gelli plate. This print was pulled using Smoothy card and when I glued it into place the card rippled slightly but I quite like it !

I used Grunge Paste with a couple of Prima stencils and when dry painted them with the new Seth Apter colours. One of my favourite prints from the Gelli plate is on the left hand side of the above photo, it ended up being mostly covered up but I loved how the paint colours blended. I've also stamped onto fabric using Lynne Perella and Wendy Vecchi stamps and layered the pieces up.

This beautiful lady has been in my possession for many months and this is her first outing. Lynne Perella images are always so beautifully designed with a gorgeous elegance about them. I've painted her using Fresco Finish Acrylic paints then mounted the card onto some grey board to give the piece some stability.

Background stamps are a weakness of mine, I could quite happily create backgrounds and never complete a project ! Wendy Vecchi has some fabulous background stamps and I've used one or two and coated the card with Glue'n'Seal so I could paint the card.

Script stamps are also a weakness and I've used one of the PaperArtsy mini's with Watering Can Arhcival ink but without a block.

The finished piece with embellishments added.

The little cameo is a brad which I've layered up on some metal filigree pieces. Some splats with Snowflake Fresco Finish acrylic paint and it's finished.

You still have time to join us for the Off to Collage challenge, so a good time for you to use up all those scrap pieces on your desk ?

Welcome to today's Guest Designer, Kate !

Hello and welcome back ! Today we are welcoming Kate who was the winner of the It's Beginning to look alot like Christmas challenge.

I am so honored to be guest posting today. I am a mommy to three little people and a wife to a wonderful man. When I am not doing mommy stuff I can be found reading or in my craft area art journaling and sewing pretty clothes for my daughter. I have been creating with paper and paint ever since I was little but just recently found art journaling .

To begin, I chose three stencils to collage together in the background.

Using grunge paste, I stenciled my background being careful to make placement appear random.

Two colours of paint were added over the background once the grunge paste was dry.

To apply the embossing paste to specific areas I dabbed my finger in embossing ink and rubbed the ink over the textured areas. Gold embossing powder was sprinkled on and heated.

Golden Sands Infusions was sprinkled, sprayed with water for activation and dried with a heat gun.

Violetia Infusions was sprinkled, sprayed with water and dried with a heat gun.

I stamped with a Japanese wave stamp.

A white out pen was used to embellish the hand and doodle around the edges of the layout.

Next I added fibers, chipboard pieces and a stamped image as my focal point. Black paint and gesso were splattered to complete the layout.

A huge thank you to Kate for sharing this fabulous journal page with us. You still have plenty of time to join in with the current challenge, Off to Collage.

A collage using tando birds

Hello there! Its Rachel here today with an inspirational post using some of the Tando Whimsical birds to make a collage.

These super cute birds come in sets, this is from set 2 which also has a smaller sized birds...

The packs contain enought bodies etc for 3 big and 3 small birds which you can mix and match according to your own design. I thought it would be fun to use these on this months project.

Having pushed out all of my birds I assembled them - then disaasembled for painting...

I chose threes colours and painted all parts then added detailing using a Kay Carley stencil. Next I made the background....

I randomly cut some Clarity Shenandoah papers nd affixed them to a piece of card overlapping where I felt like it. Once complete I used glue and seal all over to ensure the papers stayed put.

Next I added plant details using opaque texture paste and another Kay Carley stencil.

apologies for the colours here - this one was taken in the dark and I don't think my flash works well. I used some Kay Carley stamps and added more white bu stamping with gesso.

Finally I added the birds and some words from TH clippings....

Here's a close up!

I hope you enjoyed seeing those birds come to life!

Hugs Rachelxxx
